Woman Hit by SUV While Walking at Ayden NC Barbecue Festival
An elderly woman was hit by an SUV while crossing Third Street in Ayden, North Carolina on Saturday evening during the popular Ayden barbecue festival.
The accident happened around 9:30 pm near the intersection of Third Street and West Avenue. According to available information, a police officer was helping the elderly woman across West Avenue when a Chevrolet Trailblazer failed to slow down and hit the woman. The police officer was apparently waiving to the car to stop but the driver sped up anyway. The driver has been cited for numerous violations including driving without an operator’s license and failure to reduce speed.
