A gentleman named Everette Davis was killed on Thursday when he was hit by a logging truck that failed to yield at an intersection west of Lumberton, North Carolina. The accident happened at the intersection of N.C. Highway 72 and Chicken Road at around 11:15 am. According to available information, Mr. Davis was traveling on NC 72 when the logging truck pulled into the intersection.
The driver of the logging truck has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failure to yield.
Mr. Davis was 78 years old and from Red Springs, North Carolina.
At this point, it is not clear why the truck driver failed to yield to Mr. Davis. There are reports that, despite bad weather, there was adequate visibility at the time of the wreck. We expect more information may be available once the State Highway Patrol completes its investigation.

Teacher Kim Ingold Killed in North Carolina Collision With Septic Truck

The wreck happened on NC Highway 24-27 near the Montgomery-Moore County line as Ms. Ingold was traveling home from watching the NC State football game in Raleigh.
According to available information, a septic truck sideswiped a Nissan Altima and then crossed the center line hitting Ms. Ingold. The septic truck belonged to a company called Hurley Backhoe Services.
Ms. Ingold was a schoolteacher in the Anson County School system and had just celebrated her 50th birthday days before the wreck.
At this time, it is not clear why the driver of the septic truck crossed the center line. We expect the NC State Highway Patrol will investigate the serious collision. If we learn more about this wreck, we will update this post.
Teresa Murph Killed in Mount Airy NC Crash With Tractor-Trailer

The crash happened at around 5:45 am between I-74 and I-77. According to available information, Ms. Murph was travelling southwest on NC 89 when a tractor-trailer attempted a U-turn in front of her. Ms. Murph apparently went under the trailer portion of the rig.
There is some indication that it was foggy when the wreck occurred. It seems very questionable for a tractor-trailer driver to attempt a U-turn under these driving conditions. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and it is not clear if the NCSHP has assigned fault to anyone as of yet.
Tractor-Trailer Runs SUV Off Interstate 85 Near Archdale, NC Causing Injuries

The wreck happened at around 12:20 pm near exit 111 in the southbound lanes. According to available information, the tractor-trailer ran an SUV off the road causing the SUV to roll several times.
Two victims were transported by EMS to the Thomasville Medical Center for treatment.
At this point, it is not clear if charges will be filed in this accident.
Interstate 77 Tractor Trailer Crash Results in Two Fatalities

Two people in a passenger vehicle were apparently in the stopped traffic when the tractor-trailer struck and were killed in the collision.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating this accident. Elizabeth Gunter Killed in Marion NC Crash With Tractor-Trailer

Ms. Gunter was 55 years old and from Marion, North Carolina.
The tractor-trailer driver has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and misdemeanor possession of prescription medications.
At this time, there is no indication as to how this wreck occurred and to what extent it was preventable had the tractor-trailer driver exercised greater care. If we learn more about this wreck, we will update this post.
David Felker Seriously Injured When Rear-Ended by International Truck in Winston-Salem NC

The accident happened on Silas Creek Parkway at Fairlawn Drive. According to available information, Mr. Felker was sitting at the stoplight at the intersection when the Internal truck failed to reduce speed and struck the back of Mr. Felker’s vehicle.
Mr. Felker was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Winston-Salem police are still investigating this accident. Based on the facts of this case, one immediate concern is whether the driver of the International truck was distracted through the use of a cell phone or similar device. Hopefully, the police will be able to determine this through their investigation. If not, it would be important to require that the driver of the International preserve all of the cell phone data and not erase anything from the phone. In many cases with similar facts, a lawyer will immediately send a preservation of evidence letter to a driver to ensure that this information is preserved and this should probably be done here.

This started a chain reaction were the SUV carrying the Jowers family was forced into a van which then hit a guard rail and also then hit another tractor-trailer.
The driver of the tractor-trailer that hit the Jowers SUV has been charged with misdmeanor death by motor vehicle. The Jowers family was from Rolesville, North Carolina and had apparently been returning from Washington, D.C. when the crash occurred.
Tractor-Trailer Crashes on US 321 Runaway Truck Ramp

The crash happened around 4:00 am when a tractor-trailer hauling metal tubing was apparently traveling around 90 mph when it proceeded up the runaway truck ramp. However, the truck still hit the dirt mound at the end of the ramp at approximately 60 mph which proved fatal to the two men in the truck.
Killed in the crash were David Bailey and passenger Chris Raines.
